The Society of Professional Accountants of Canada (SPAC) is a
professional body that helps individuals to enhance and develop
their skills. It helps organizations improve their efficiency and
cost-effectiveness, and helps them contribute to the economy at large.
The Society of professional Accountants was formed in 1978 as an unincorporated
entity to continue the role of its predecessor, the Institute of Accredited Public
Accounts of Ontario. The Society was thus officially designated the Ontario zone
of the Canadian Institute of Accredited Public Accountants of Canada which represented
the zone vacated by the Institute Public Accountants of Ontario. The qualifying
examinations of the four UK leading chartered accountancy bodies, CIPFA, ICAEW,
CIMA and ICAS, are recognized by the Society and members of those bodies are granted
exemptions to write the Mandatory Accreditation Examinations of the Society.
